Recorded on my little compact camera... In response to an ongoing joke that customers always ask whether Alexanders of Welshpool cut keys, this song seeks to address the issue, and inform the public of the potential dangers of requesting such a service. (Actually, the shop staff are totally lovely!!) Thanks to Paul Alexander for kicking things off by sending me the lyrics for the final verse before the "They don't cut keys" refrain. Following that, the rest just fell into place. Awesome stuff, mate! Lyrics: - There's a shop in our town, An emporium of bliss, But there's an unwritten rule, You must all remember this. A request filled with menace, A question that will never please, 'Cos though their stock is unending, They don't cut keys, they don't cut keys! Remember this rule, it will hold you in good stead, As the tranquil shop-front atmosphere could fill with dread, The cheerful staff's patience could turn upon one word, When you go to Alexanders, remember what you've heard. Alexanders of Welshpool, they sell anything you please, From pots and pans, to oven gloves and garden peas, So pop in when you want, purchase a grater for cheese, But just don't ever ask, whether they cut keys. They don't cut keys! They don't cut keys! They don't cut keys! They don't cut keys! But they are still the bee's knees!
